Woods Interior 22x18 pastel

Woods Interior 22x18 pastel

This is a pastel study I did on while on a camping trip this summer.  The woods were very dark and the sun dappled through into this deep, green forest.  Painted in North Mills River, NC.

Black Plums and Lemon 9×12 pastel

This is a still life pastel I painted in the last week of July.   I painted it over the course of about three days, 30 minutes at a time.  Working in short sessions and stepping away freely helps the eye stay fresh.

Another beautiful day in the garden – I’ve never painted an iris before.

One of my favorite subjects and my favorite flower.  They bloom for such a short time.  The presence required to paint them from life is a great way to meditate on their beauty and enjoy to fleeting present.  Just a moment in time…taken with gratitude.
